The Talkin’ Headline Blues #84

So, I felt it was time to start doing these again. A month to go to a lot of things. Or a few things. Or…I guess, probably, that the headlines are gonna start to get really funny.

So you get this.

Now, you may notice, if you were keeping track, that the music is a little different. And maybe you’re saying to yourself, “Hey, Self, I really don’t think these are “Talkin’ Blues” songs in the traditional sense. What the heck is going on here?”

I’d say to that: Thanks for paying attention.

Now, there’s also another reason to start doing these again. The original lyric sheets are going up in a High-Society Art Gallery.

Yeah.

The one’s that Pamela so kindly drew on, collaged with, cut up, pasted over, rearranged, and so on are being hung in a display at the Lacuna Artist Lofts down in the Pilsen neighborhood. There’ll be a lot of other great pieces too. Some by Pamela, some by some other great artists. Most all of them will be for sale at reasonable prices. Poor Elvis will be playing some songs. I’m supposedly going to perform one or more of the Talkin’ Headlines, possibly while Pamela draws on the one I’m performing.

It’ll take all my concentration.

Here’s one of the recent additions to the collaged lyric sheets:

You can see all the done-up Talkin’ Headlines over at PoorElvis.com in the “photos” section.

Anyway, find out more about the gallery show here. Or just read it here:

“Expansion” a Pop-Up Gallery in our Second Floor space, featuring work by Local Chicago Artists, as well as Lacuna Artist Loft tenants. This event will coincide with our monthly Second Saturday Open Studios, and Hebru Brantley’s Exhibit in our First Floor Gallery Space. SO much to see and do, come on out!

And the fellas at Powell Brew House will also be pouring free beer samples. Don’t miss out!
